Manual To Manhood

Year after  year, the Manual for Manhood is the top selling gift for teenage boys on all my articles.

The book is ideal to give teen boys. It teaches all those functional skills that they don't get taught at school and parents don't always have the time to show them.

They discover things like how to wear cologne correctly · grill a steak · tie a tie · manage money · talk to a girl · plan a date · write a résumé · ask for a reference · clean a bathroom · throw darts · change a tire · behave during a traffic stop · fold a shirt · clear a sink drain · find a stud in a wall.

My 15 year old son is very keen to improve his physique. We have on of these at home and he uses for pull ups.

You can put the pull up bar in most doorways.  It instantly attaches to or removes from your door frame, so he can use it in his bedroom and take it down when he's finished. The heavy-duty steel construction supports up to 300 pounds.

Apple Airpods

If he has an Apple phone, a pair of AirPods make a fantastic gift. My son is always watching to YouTube videos on his iPhone and Airpods mean that we don't have to listen to the sound from these videos when he's watching them at home.

The AirPods give quick access to Siri by saying “ Hey Siri ”. With more than 24 hours total listening time with the charging case, effortless setup, in-ear detection, and automatic switching it's difficult to find a better pair of in ear pods.

This 625 piece Lego Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet building kit is part of a lego collection for adults and teenagers. It would make a great gift for teenage boy who love legos and enjoy a challenge.

He also suggested the Star Wars Millenium Falcon lego set.

Razer Kraken X Ultralight Gaming Headset

One of the items my 15 year old son has asked for this Christmas is a new gaming headset. His current headset is probably one of the most used items in his bedroom, so it's fair to ask for a new and upgraded one.

The Razer Kraken X headset is the lightest ever Kraken headset (around 40% lighter than the competition). This makes is very comfortable to wear for a long period of time.

It also features a bendable noise cancelling microphone: A cardioid mic reduces background and ambient noises for crystal-clear communication.

The Driving Book: Everything New Drivers Need to Know but Don't Know to Ask

The Driving Book - Everything New Drivers Need but Don't Know to Ask by Karen Gravelle is another top seller on my gift lists for teenage boys.

It's obviously great for teenagers who are learning to drive and / or have just passed their test.

One things new drivers lack is the lessons learned from experience. This book helps with the scenarios that are not necessarily covered when learning. It covers virtually every scenario a new driver may face, from changing a tire to negotiating privileges with parents to handling a car in bad weather.

Pindaloo Skill Game Toy

Want to get your teenagers away from their screens more?

Tempt them away with a Pindaloo skill toy. This is a great toy for kids, teens and adults to have a go at.

Essentially it's a juggling toy. You have to make the yellow balls travel through the blue tube and keep catching them.

See how high you can get the balls to travel, how fast, how slow and swap hands.

Once you've mastered the basics, you can have a go at some cool tricks.

Be warned Pindaloo is addictive!

When I ask my teenage son to do something else other than play Minecraft, I often get the reply what else is there to do?

This book helps with this. There are a wide variety of suggested activities that teenager can enjoy. They include researching your family tree, taking a camping trip, making a podcast, writing a manifesto, learning how to make beats like a DJ, learning a martial art and lots more!

3D Printing Pen

Creative teens will love a 3D Pen. (My 15 year old likes to create and said he'd like this pen. Not sure we're going to get it for him this year as his list is getting rather long!)

It's great for art and making all kinds of creations.

Easy to use, draw, create animals, shapes and lots more.

You can make your creations into keyrings or hang them on the wall.

Many teenage boys have their first car keys or a key to their home. Why not get them a key ring with a reminder of important rules they need to know? Of course, the most important rule is to call your Mom!

Another great stocking stuffer idea.

Every little thing we can do to help teenage boys face the challenges of 21st century life is helpful. This book does just that. Razer DeathAdder V2 Gaming Mouse

This is another item on my teenager's gift list. The mouse he uses for gaming needs to be replaced as he has used it so much. The Razer's DeathAdder V2  is a top rated gaming mouse. It features incredible tracking and a comfortable shape for long gaming sessions.

Mini Portable Compact Personal Fridge

Teenage boys spend a lot of time in their bedrooms while they are studying, gaming or just chilling! The portable fridge is perfect to keep his drinks and snacks. They are especially great to dip into when he needs a study break from revising for exams. It’s also great to keep drinks cool for when his friends come around to visit.

Portable Charger

We all know it's easy to be caught out and about and be running out of battery on your cell phone, so a portable charger is super useful. It gives parent peace of mind as they know their son will have be able to charge his phone on the go and get in touch if he needs to.

Gaming Chair

We bought our son a gaming chair for his 14th birthday. It’s been a brilliant gift, not only for gaming but for study too. It’s important teenagers have a comfortable chair while they are revising for their exams as they are more likely to study for longer in a comfortable environment.

Rapid Ramen Cooker

It's amazing how much a growing teenage boy can eat. The Rapid Ramen Cooker is great for teen boys as they can make themselves some ramen in just a few minutes in the microwave. Great for study snacks!

My teenager is always watching videos on YouTube and this would be a perfect gift for him. You can attach the clamp to a desk or on his bed so he could watch videos on his phone, leaving his hands free to have a snack or drinks. It’s also good to watch educational videos as he can then make notes while watching.

The display also shows the weather and song titles. Additionally, use the Echo to control smart bulbs, He won’t have to get out of bed to turn the lights on and off.

On top of this, the Echo is great for setting timers, listening to audiobooks, checking the news headlines and weather.

Basketball - or other sports ball

Both my sons love basketball, so if they need a new one this is always a good gift option. My 17 year old source said he would like a new soccer ball as this is his sport of choice.

In fact equipment for any sport he plays is always a good gift option, whether that be a ball, clothing, training or other equipment.

Build Your Own V8 Engine

If you teenager likes to tinker and see how things work or he’s interested in cars, the build your own engine kit will make a great gift.

The engine is easily assembled with over 100 parts. It includes a working electric motor, light up spark plugs, engine sounds and automatic shut off.

Teens will discover how an internal combustion engine works by constructing a fully working model with see through workings. The kit comes with an instruction manual with step-by-step diagrams and easy to assemble components.

Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock

Anybody who’s had to parent a teenager knows how hard it is to get them out of bed in the morning! This problem is easy to solve with the Sonic Bomb alarm clock. The alarm clock is extra loud and should wake even the sleepiest of teens. However, if it’s still not enough, there is a vibrator which will definitely shake them out of bed in the morning.

This book is a short read that has some amazing inspirational messages. It’s based on the motivational graduation speech of a former Navy Seal. There are some powerful life lessons.

T-shirt for a Gamer

A tongue in cheek gift for the avid gamer. This t-shirt is ideal for casual wear. It comes in different colors and sizes. It's sure to raise a smile when he unwraps this gift.

Fire TV Stick

Another suggestion from my 17 year old source, Joe is the Fire TV stick. It's easy to set up. Just put the Fire Stick into the HDMI port in the back of the TV, connect to the wifi and you have access to your favorite streaming services. Great for teens to have in their bedroom so they can watch what they want.

Spikeball Game Kit

Spikeball is a great game for teens to play in the backyard, park or beach.

It's simple to play and easy to pick up. The net is placed at ankle level between a pair of two-player teams. You smack the palm-sized ball down on the net so it ricochets up at your opponents. They have up to three hits between them (just like volleyball) to control it and bounce it back to you. When they miss, you score. First team to 21 wins.

How to Survive Anything: From Animal Attacks to the End of the World

I always think it's good to get a teenage boy one book you'll think he'll like. This is an excellent book for teens who enjoy being outdoors and doing activities such as hiking, camping or exploring.

It covers the survival basics that you need to know with the wild and crazy eventualities that you probably don’t.

It's a fun, entertaining read with some good info and outdoor survival tips

Hand Warmer

With energy prices set to rise this year, this hand warmer could be the most useful gift he gets. It's great to keep his hand warm in a cold classroom or when he's outdoors this winter.

It's not only a handwarmer but an emergency back up battery too.

The size is ideal for a stocking filler gift.

NIKE Performance Cushion Crew Socks

If you want to put some socks in your teen's stocking - Nike Crew socks are the ones to get. They were picked out by my sporty 17 year old source Joe as something he'd like as a gift, although he chose white as the color.

Under Armour Men's Rival Fleece Joggers

My 15 year old lives in joggers. He refuses to wear jeans so I always get him an extra pair at Christmas. Under Armour is a popular brand with teens. If you're in the UK Gymshark joggers are another popular brands to get.

Computer Graphics Tablet

Do you have a teenage boy who likes to draw? If so consider a computer graphics tablet. Suggested by Joe, who is very keen on digital art, the tablet works with a computer, laptop or smartphone - it's not a stand alone product (make sure it's compatible with his device before purchasing). Connect the tablet to your device via a cable. When you draw on the tablet your digital creation will appear on your device's screen. You will need to run a paint application to use it.
This is a good graphics tablet for a beginner but there are more advanced graphic tablets available for serious teen artist.

Agility Ladder

A final suggestion from Joe is an agility ladder. Joe plays soccer but these ladders are great for training in a variety of other sports too. They improve agility and footwork. Use them for drills for training in basketball, martial arts, football, tennis and lots of other sports. Or just to improve general fitness and agility. Easily lay the ladder out for a quick and varied home training session. Once finished, the ladder is quick and easy to fold up and store away.

Portable Table Tennis Set

These sets are ingenious. They can turn most large tables into a ping pong table quickly and easily. The click & clamp posts fit up to 2" thick & won't mark.

My boys both love table tennis so it's a winner in our house.

Boxing Punch Bag Themed Laundry Bag

This gift may be more for frustrated parents that teens but this iconic laundry bag in the shape of a boxing punch bag will look good in a teenage bedroom. The hope is it will also encourage him to tidy dirty clothes up off the floor.

As well as for teenage boys it home, this is a great laundry bag for college students.

Once the bag is full it has a shoulder strap so can easily be carried to a laundry room.

It also has hanging straps so you can hang it up off the floor too. A drawstring out the top stops odours from worn clothes seeping out - great if they use lots of sweaty sports clothes.

Money Maze

If all else fails, teenagers are always going to appreciate money or a voucher.

The only downside is that sometimes money can make a boring gift.

Why not make it a little more interesting with a money maze. Make teens work for their gift, they only get the money when they have solved the puzzle!
